We are pleased to announce the following research grant is now open for application.

UMSC CA.R.E RESEARCH GRANT (UMSC-RG) & DATO' MAHMOOD MERICAN MEDICAL RESEARCH GRANT (MMRG)

QUANTUM

Ceiling amount of RM 60,000

DURATION

Two (2) years

SCOPE OF FUNDING

The UMSC C.A.R.E Fund Research Grant (UMSC-RG) and the Dato’ Mahmood Merican Medical Research Grant (MMRG) aim to encourage and facilitate Faculty of Medicine (FOM) researchers in conducting impactful research that can contribute towards the improvement of patient care and/or community well-being.

Specifically, research proposal(s) should highlight the local context of the research topic, and demonstrate how they will advance the practice/teaching of medicine and surgery at FOM, and/or improve medical/healthcare problems that are pertinent to our Malaysian communities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• FOM academic staff;

• Must be in post for the duration of the award;

• For contract staff, MUST include at least one (1) PERMANENT staff;

• Contract must be valid for at least six (6) months from the start of the project;

• Applicant does not have an existing grant as a Principal Investigator (PI), OR has achieved at least 75% completion and expenditure rate for the project(s) that he or she is an active PI;

• Applicant can only submit one application as the PI.

ONE (1) Web of Science (WOS) indexed publication

• Application is open from 6nd May - 14th June 2024

• Applicants must submit the completed documents and all related attachments in softcopy to grants.fom@um.edu.my in the format below:

  3. Research Budget – one (1) PDF

• The Secretariat will acknowledge the receipt of the submission by email within 3 working days. Please contact the Secretariat if you did not receive a confirmation email.

• Applications that are received after the closing date will not be processed.

• Incomplete documents will be rejected.

14th June 2024 (Friday), 5.00 PM

Announcement of successful recipients:

October 2024

Tentative project start date:

1st November 2024

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• The submitted research proposal is not currently being considered for funding from other sources.

• Shortlisted grant proposals will be considered for either the UMSC-RG or MMRG depending on the suitability and budget of proposed projects.

• To enhance funding opportunities, these proposals may also be considered for other internal and external funding sources.
