RMU is responsible for managing and facilitating research activities within the Faculty of Medicine. Being the largest faculty in UM with more than 500 academic staff, this office ensures that the productivity and research output in this faculty remain high, maintaining a long tradition of producing high quality research which are recognized locally and internationally. This is clear evident by the recognition of University of Malaya as the premier university in Malaysia.

The RMU is responsible:

• To support development of research strategies and planning based on data and current (and future) research trends.
• To promote research and interdisciplinary collaboration through dissemination of funding opportunities and research activities/performance
• To provide support and manage internal and external research grants

• Collect and monitor FOM research output
• Conduct FOM Research Performance Analysis
• Manage UMSC CA.R.E. Fund (Research Grant), Dato' Mahmood Merican Medical Research Grant (MMRG) and UMSC CA.R.E Fund (Postdoctoral)
